First Aid Training at Work

A 3-day course covering various first aid topics, the First Aid At Work (FAW) Training Course is also name as the FAW Course. This course is for anyone 16 and over who may need to give first aid to any injuries, accidents, or illnesses they might encounter at work. 

This course is a comprehensive level 3 course in first aid. It meets all the Health and Safety Regulations 1981 (First Aid).

FAW also covers emergency management and effective communication in the case of an incident. This includes eyewitnesses, victims, experts, and medical personnel who respond.

Who should take FAW?

First Aid Training at Work (FAW) is a great course for organizations that have identified the need for additional first-aid training. It could be because employees have a disability or are suffering from a medical condition. This is ideal for people who work in high-risk areas such as healthcare, manufacturing, and warehousing. Employers are legally requires to conduct a first-aid assessment. This will allow them to determine how many first-aiders are needed, the level of training they require, and what equipment and facilities they need. The Health and Safety Executive has published guidance for conducting a first-aid need assessment.

Assessment and certification

Your instructor will continuously assess you during the First Aid course. Your ability to properly administer first aid techniques. The course includes two exams: a written multiple-choice exam and a practical one. You must pass both the written and practical exams to receive your FAW Certificate.

After completing the course successfully, Hurak will issue a Hurak First Aid At Work certificate valid for three years. You will be able to work in your workplace as a certified first aid.

What is the life expectancy of a certificate for first aid at work?

The certificate of First Aid Training at Work lasts three years. The certificate allows the individual to fulfill the role of workplace first aid for three years. A certificate that expires means that a person can no longer fulfill the role of a workplace first aid. Employers may not provide the first aid they need if the risk assessment has been complete.

What is the difference between emergency first aid at the workplace and first aid at home?

First aid at work is best for employers with higher risk assessments or larger employers that operate with a lower hazard level.

First aid at the workplace also includes more techniques than emergency first aid at home. Employers should ensure that their employees have completed risk assessments to identify any potential risks, such as burns, fractures, or anaphylactic shock.

How can I become a certified first aid?

Attend a first aid or emergency first aid course at work and pass the assessment. Both courses require you to have basic knowledge and handle a wide range of first aid situations. You can requalify in first aid at a workplace if you have already completed a course in first aid at your job and your certificate is about to expire.

What’s the difference between first aid and an appointed person?

A designated person will be responsible for first aid. This includes taking care of first aid equipment, such as replenishing it regularly and calling emergency services in case of an emergency. They are not trained or expected to give first aid. Appointed people are not appropriate for low-risk workplaces, where a risk assessment has determined that first aid is unnecessary. First aid is provided by someone who has been trained and certified to render first aid in the event of an emergency.

Is it possible to fail a course in first aid at work?

You must prove that you can manage a wide range of first aid situations before you can be a workplace first aider. You will not be permit to take the first aid at work course if you cannot prove that you have sufficient knowledge or are competent to handle various first aid situations.

What is the best time to do first aid training?

The validity of a certificate for First Aid Training at Work or emergency first aid at the workplace is limited to three years. To continue your role as a first-aid worker in the workplace, you will need to either requalify in first aid or do the emergency first aid at the workplace. A certificate is valid for three years, but studies show that first aid skills can decline after six months. This is known as skills fading. HSE strongly suggests that first aiders undergo an annual refresher course in first aid.

How many first aids do I require?

The number of first aids required depends on the number of employees, the level of danger in your operation, your workplace’s size and layout, and your work patterns (e.g., shifts). This number can vary from one employer to another, so it is important to do a thorough risk assessment to determine the right number for your operation.

A rule of thumb is that if you work at a higher risk, 1 first aid certificate and first aid at home certificate should be available for every 50 employees. Employers with lower hazards will have 1 first aid for every 25 employees and 1 for 100.
